The climate crisis poses high threats to low-income urban communities in the UK, who are already dealing with the cost-of-living crisis, growing youth unemployment, housing shortage, and funding cuts to youth centres and public transport – increasing their vulnerability to climate change.

The Waves of Change team are working with year-7 school pupils in Hartcliffe and Withywood, in the heart of Bristol. The area is one of the 1% most economically disadvantaged in the UK. We are developing strategies to promote these children’s engagement with green and blue spaces and create a future that will be just and sustainable for all. We are working with Kirsty Hammond from “Heart of BS13”, whose mission is to promote climate awareness and enhance the wellbeing of local communities.
